Apfelwickler-Granulovirus: Unterschiede in der Empfindlichkeit lokaler Apfelwickler-Populationen Organic Eprints
Fritsch, Eva; Undorf-Spahn, Karin; Kienzle, Jutta; Zebitz, Claus P. W.; Huber, Jürg.
This study is part of a BMELV (German Federal Ministry for, Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection) project on prevention of codling moth damage by long-term population control on large areas. Local codling moth (CM) populations were collected in autumn 2003 from three different orchards in the South of Germany; two of them having been treated with granulovirus of codling moth for many years and one since two years. In autumn 2004, in addition to the three locations from the previous year, specimens from populations in four other orchards with serious CM problems were collected. The susceptibility of the offsprings of the overwintering larvae to CpGV was investi-gated in the spring of the following year in bioassays on artificial diet and compared to a...

Codling moth granulovirus: Variations in the susceptibility of local codling moth populations Organic Eprints
Fritsch, Eva; Undorf-Spahn, Karin; Kienzle, Jutta; Zebitz, Claus P.W.; Huber, Jürg.
This study is part of a BMELV (German Federal Ministry for, Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection) project for prevention of codling moth damage by long-term population control in large areas. Specimens from local codling moth populations were collected in fall 2003 from three different orchards in the South of Germany; two of them having been treated with granulovirus of codling moth (CpGV Madex 2 and/or Granupom) over many years (Lake Constance II and South Baden) and one since two years (Lake Constance I). In autumn 2004, specimens from populations in four other orchards with serious CM problems were collected to investigate whether more populations were involved in that region. Furthermore, the population Lake Constance I and South Baden...

Entwicklung einer Strategie zum Virulenzmanagement beim Apfelwickler-Granulovirus und zur Regulierung des Apfelwicklers im Ökologischen Obstbau Organic Eprints
Jehle, Johannes A.; Undorf-Spahn, Karin; Fritsch, Eva; Zebitz, Klaus P.W.; Kienzle, Jutta; Zimmer, Jürgen; Benduhn, Bastian; Brockamp, Leona.

Jehle, Johannes A.; Asser-Kaiser, Sabine; Fritsch, Eva; Gund, Nadine A.; Heckel, David; Huber, Jürg; Kienzle, Jutta; Reineke, Annette; Schulze-Bopp, Stefanie; Undorf-Spahn, Karin; Zebitz, Claus P.W..

Rapid Emergence of Baculovirus Resistance in Codling Moth to Dominant, Sex-linked Inheritance Organic Eprints
Asser-Kaiser, Sabine; Fritsch, Eva; Undorf-Spahn, Karin; Kienzle, Jutta; Eberle, Karolin; Gund, Nadine; Reineke, Annette; Zebitz, Claus; Heckel, David; Jehle, Johannes.
Insect-specific baculoviruses are increasingly used as biocontrol agents of lepidopteran pests in agriculture and forestry, and thy have been previously regarded as robust to resistance development by the insects. However, in more than a dozen cases of field resistance of codling moth Cydia pomonella to commercially applied C. pomonella granulovirus (CpGV) in German orchards, resistance ratios exceed 1000. The rapid emergence of resistance is facilitated by sex-linkage and concentration dependant dominance of the major resistance gene and genetic uniformity of the virus. When the gene is fixed, resistance levels approach 100.000-fold. Our findings highlight the need for development of resistance management strategies for baculoviruses. (C)2007, American...
